Trelewis Primary School in Merthyr Tydfil is the site of a brand new Genesis washroom system manufactured by the UK No.1 - Armitage Venesta.
Designed with bright, blue and yellow fish screen prints, a fun and attractive washroom has been created. The sweeping shape to the cubicle doors and partitions adds to the fun feel, while the solid grade specification ensures durability. The system also features non-finger trap hinges, click-fix IPS Evolve panelling and sanitaryware as well as matching vanity units.
For example, Cherrylee Evans Team Leader of Planned Maintenance for Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council says, “The washroom is absolutely fantastic, everyone is really pleased. The Education Authority is so impressed that similar systems will now be specified for all refurbishment projects in other schools.”
The project was funded by the School Buildings Improvement Grant (SBIG), which receives money allocated by the Welsh Assembly. Joyce Crandon from the Merthyr Tydfil Education Authority thought the Assembly should see for themselves exactly how the SBIG was being spent and how Trelewis set the standard for the future. She says, “Photographs of the installation were shown to the Children’s Commissioner and Assembly members and they not only welcomed the feedback from the Authority but also appreciated the quality of the new washrooms and what we are trying to do- improve all aspects of education provision.” However, the last word should go to Mrs Pam Eyles, Headmistress of Trelewis Primary School. “Children and parents just love the new washrooms. They were installed in the oldest infant area and there’s even been some jealousy from children whose own loos are still awaiting refurbishment! The push button flushes have been a real novelty too, and they help ensure the washroom stays much more clean and tidy. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
