Accepted practice is not to compromise the integrity of the fire wall – as stated in HTM 68.
HTM 68 – 5.2 Wherever possible assemblies should not be installed on fire compartment walls. Where this is unavoidable, fire integrity should ideally be provided within the wall or partition itself with no reliance on the panel assembly. This is because of the difficulty of maintaining fire integrity where panels are removed for maintenance. (Refer to HTM 56).
We would therefore recommend using a Boxed-out unit in front of the fire wall in order to maintain its integrity.
